About Adam Gray

Introductory photo

"Putting the Valley first is not an empty promise. It’s something I am working to prove everyday."

Born and raised in Merced, Adam Gray grew up working in his family’s dairy supply and feed store, where he learned firsthand the values of hard work, integrity, and looking out for your neighbors. His family has lived and worked in the Central Valley for generations, and Adam attended local schools before building a career dedicated to serving the region he calls home.

Today, Adam represents California’s 13th Congressional District in the United States House of Representatives, where he is focused on lowering costs for Valley families, strengthening the region’s water supply, supporting agriculture, and expanding access to healthcare.

Adam serves on the House Agriculture Committee and the House Natural Resources Committee, two key assignments that allow him to advocate directly for Valley farmers, water resources, and rural communities. He also serves as Whip of the moderate Blue Dog Coalition, helping lead bipartisan efforts to bring common sense solutions to Washington.

Adam believes his job is to work and deliver for the people he represents. Washington is broken, but Adam has proven he will work with anyone if it means solving problems for families back home. His agenda is simple: lower the cost of food, housing, and utilities, secure more reliable water for Valley families and farms, cut the red tape that keeps infrastructure projects stuck on the drawing board, strengthen public safety and build an economy where families don’t have to choose between paying for health care and paying their rent.

In Congress, Adam has sponsored legislation to lower food prices by limiting costly tariffs that drive up costs for families and hurt Valley farmers. He worked to pass the bipartisan Farm Bill to ensure that agricultural communities have the resources, support, and certainty they need to continue to feed families across the country. He has also worked to expand health care access for veterans and rural communities.

Despite the chaos and partisan gridlock in Washington, Adam has continued to deliver results for the Central Valley. He has secured funding to rehabilitate a local fire station, investments in flood protection and water treatment projects, and brought back federal funding to repair roads and infrastructure across the region.

Adam has also shown he is willing to stand up when the Valley’s interests are threatened. He opposed efforts to cut health care from tens of thousands of Valley families, and is working to roll back unconstitutional immigration policies and illegal tariffs that hurt the Valley economy and raised costs for families and businesses.

Before serving in Congress, Adam represented Merced and Stanislaus Counties in the California State Assembly, where he built a reputation as a pragmatic problem-solver who delivers for the Central Valley. Adam helped secure more than $200 million to establish a joint medical school in Merced to train doctors in the Valley and address the region’s longstanding shortage of healthcare providers.

He also secured billions in investments to strengthen the Valley’s water supply, including funding for new water storage, repairs to aging canals, and improvements to groundwater basins. Adam led the fight against the State Water Grab and organized the largest water rights rally in State Capitol history to defend the Valley’s water.

Adam lives in Merced, where he helps lead a small business and teaches a course on the California Legislature at UC Merced.
